This post is all about A Week in My Life: Garden Projects, Long Walks
It is currently late Sunday night and I am sitting on the couch, cuddled up with a hot cup of tea and a Harry Potter movie is playing in the background. This week was incredibly busy but it was one of my favorite weeks so far this spring. I was off from work Wednesday through today but I was house sitting the whole time so I wasn’t completely off. I used the extra time to do some filming for Youtube and work on some home projects. I am so excited for this summer since my backyard is starting to come together nicely.
This week I focused on going on a lot of long walks. I did about 6 miles each day except for this weekend since it rained so much. I am so glad that I live in a neighborhood because it makes getting in long walks super easy because of all the quiet roads. This was the first week that it was super hot out, although it cooled down during the weekend. All the rain this weekend kind of killed my mood because I was starting to get used to the hot, sunny days. Oh well!

Monday
Monday was a pretty simple day. I stopped by Homegoods after work to pick up some nice jars for cabinet organization. I am putting together a health cabinet so I needed some extra jars to store certain items. I found the absolute cutest jars. I basically could spend all my money at Homegoods. When I got home, I immediately put on my sneakers and headed out the door for a long walk. I love living in the country because all the views are so beautiful. There are beautiful horse farms surrounding us and I love seeing all the beautiful barns and fields.
Also, I have really been enjoying my front porch. It brings a smile to my face every time I see the bright yellow door. The flowers are thriving and it’s so much fun to water them every night! I ended the night with a decaf coffee and a movie. I have been watching some older movies like Pride and Prejudice and Sense and Sensibility. They are my favorite summer movies. I could watch them every single night! The movie soundtracks are also my favorite.

Tuesday
As soon as I got home from work, I went on a long walk. After my walk, I spent some time in my backyard with all the animals. The chickens are growing and I have been letting them out of the coop to do some roaming here and there. I am so proud of my dogs. They are so great with the chickens and ducks and I’m so happy that everyone gets along. Our male duck, Jok, does like to chase the dogs but they basically just ignore him.
One of my favorite things about spring is lilac. The smell is so amazing and I was surprised to see that we have a large beautiful bush on the side of our house. I decided to make a bouquet and bring it inside so we could enjoy the smell. Within 5 minutes, our whole downstairs smelled like fresh lilac! Oh the joys of nature! Later that evening, I went on another long walk with my husband but we had to cut it short because a storm was brewing. I am a huge fan of spring thunderstorms so I didn’t mind!

Wednesday
I had Wednesday off and spent my morning doing some outside chores before heading out on my long walk. This walk was wild because I saw so many animals. I saw not one, but two turtles making their way across the road. I made sure to help them cross over because I didn’t want them getting hit by a car. They were so cute. I also saw some cute little potbelly pigs. This is one of the benefits of living in the countryside. The pigs were super friendly and greeted me at the fence.
I did some reading when I got home then headed over to my friend’s house to take care of their animals while they’re out of town. They have two horses so I spent some time grooming them. Horses are so calming and take me back to my childhood. Of course I brought them some delicious apples! When I got home, I worked on a smoothie bowl recipe for the blog. It turned out great!

Thursday
Thursday was a busy day. As soon as I woke up, I did the outside chores at my house and then headed over to my friends house to do more chores. It was a great excuse to spend some much needed time outside. After chores, I did some shopping at Michael’s and Home Depot because I needed some supplies for a garden project video that I was filming for YouTube. The video and blog post will be posted soon! I had so much fun working on it and it definitely put me in the mood to do some more crafts.
I also picked up some fertilizer and spread that out over my flowerbeds. I’m hoping it gives the flowers a boost. Most of my flowers are doing okay, but I noticed that a few of them don’t look their best. I cannot wait for my peonies to bloom! Peonies are my favorite flowers and I definitely want to get some more bushes to add to our flowerbeds. I just love how magical they look.

Friday & Saturday
I started off Friday morning with a long walk in the neighborhood. After, I continued working on my garden project and absolutely loved how it turned out. I am really loving the cottage garden feel and want my flowerbeds to look more whimsical. I have a few more projects planned for my backyard so stay tuned for those! Saturday was a cold and rainy day. I spent a lot of time in the garden with the ducks and was happy to see that most of the roses were blooming. I love the way the backyard looks when it rains. I recently moved a cute little bench next to the garden shed and really like how it looks. I want to decorate it with some flower pots here soon.
I still need to fully finish painting the garden shed door and put it back up. The garden shed has been open and I just noticed that a little bird built a nest in our shed. I guess whenever we put the door back up, we will have to leave it open for the mama bird. I was also thinking of maybe hanging some beautiful ferns on the garden shed. I know that birds love to lay nests in ferns. Last year, birds laid nests in every single one of my ferns! I loved it!

A Week in My Life Wrap-Up
This past week was so busy and I’m ready to slow things down a bit this upcoming week. I just feel like no matter what I do there is just so much to do around the house and backyard. It seems never-ending! I need to come up with a to do list and get things organized because we are going to be tackling our huge vegetable garden here soon and I know that will take some serious time and effort. I am so grateful for all the beautiful spring weather and am excited for what this summer brings. I am thrilled to have such a large backyard and can’t wait to make my dreams come to life. Anyways, I hope you have an amazing week!
