My June Personal Curriculum (And How to Build Your Own)

June 8, 2026 · In: Musings

I want to learn more and I hope you do too. My hope is that this post inspires you to start making good use of your free time, rather than scrolling or watching tv. No matter where we go, we are constantly bombarded with information. All the short form content makes us impatient and highly addicted to instant gratification. It’s time we put down the phones, turn off the tv and make life interesting again!

I’ve wanted to organize a personal curriculum for myself for a while now, and I’m so excited to start this month. I’m pretty sure the idea of personal curriculums originated on TikTok and I absolutely love the idea of creating learning goals for yourself.

What is a Personal Curriculum?

A personal curriculum is simply a set of learning goals you create for yourself over a set period of time. It doesn’t have to follow any strict rules — some organize theirs monthly, by season or even three months at a time. It’s whatever works for you! Personally, I like planning mine month by month, since I already organize my reading that way.

How to Create Your Own Personal Curriculum

Building a personal curriculum is actually pretty easy. Although the goal is to learn more, I think the more important goal is to enjoy what you are doing and creating. If you make the topics too difficult, you might burn out and avoid your curriculum all together.

Here are a few tips to get started:

  • Play to your strengths. If reading comes easily to you, structure your curriculum around books. If you’re more hands-on and creative, organize it around crafts or projects. Also, try to challenge yourself and get out of your comfort zone.
  • Start small. For example, if you want to become a reader, maybe have a goal of reading two books a month rather than overshooting and burning out.
  • Build toward bigger goals gradually. If you have larger ambitions, slowly add in activities that support them over time.
  • Consider your schedule. If life is busy, design a curriculum that accounts for that. Consider adding a section of optional goals so you have some flexibility.

The goal is to challenge yourself, but not so much that things fizzle out halfway through the month.

My Goals for June

This month, I organized my curriculum into the following categories below. I’m sure these categories will change each month and I want this to be something I enjoy; if I don’t get to something, it’s no big deal. I definitely don’t want this to be something that stresses me out!

  • Be more responsible & productive with my time
  • Better my skills in certain areas
  • Read for enjoyment
  • Grow in my faith

I will do a video recap at the end of the month to go over what I accomplished, so be on the lookout for that over on my YouTube channel!

I hope this post inspired you to get started on your own personal curriculum! Learning can be fun and we don’t have to stay glued to our phones.

I’d love to know — do you follow a personal curriculum? If so, how do you organize it?

With love,

Addison
